The Coated Diplomat® is slightly warmer than the Clear Diplomat® due to a thin layer of coating on the single ply of Mylar® film. They’re known for their bright warm tones, resonance, and sustain.
Remo banjo heads are available in six finishes (Coated on top or underneath, Cloudy, Clear, Renaissance and Fiberskyn 3) in 1/16"" increments from 10"" to 12 1/8"" diameters. They come in three collar heights: Low Collar - 3/8"", Medium Collar - 7/16"", and High Collar - 1/2"".
The collar height on a banjo head refers to the height or distance from the top of the aluminum channel of the banjo head to the top of the crown or curvature of the head material. Different banjo manufactures require different collar heights. To accommodate banjo manufactures Remo makes three different collar heights of heads for banjos.
Low Collar = 3/8”
Medium Collar = 7/16”
High Collar = 1/2”
To get the proper head for your banjo you’ll not only need to know the collar height but also the diameter head. This information is available through the manufacture of the Banjo.
