In the 1920s, people began experimenting with delay effects by sending audio signals back and forth over telephone lines over very long distances. Listening to the original sound source and the signal coming back through the telephone line created the first artificial delay effect.

In the late 1940s, sound engineers began using magnetic tape decks as a delay, and in the 1950s the first portable tape delays were built. Since then, guitarists in all styles of music have recognized the delay effect as an absolute necessity.

Black Sheep Tape Echo is a digital tape delay pedal that serves classic and tape delay. With the flick of a switch, you can choose between tube, solid state, and inverse delay, and the Level, Speed, and Feedback controls are easy to use.

All Black Sheep Digital pedals have one user memory slot. Just set the sound you want to record, press and hold the footswitch, and the sound will be recorded. You can then double-click the footswitch to switch between the saved setting and the current setting. This feature is not at all common in stompboxes, but here it is.

The Tape Echo is an excellent Tape Delay pedal that brings back the classic sounds of the early delay effects of the '50s and '60s and is a great addition to any guitarist's pedal board.
