Many Unity Retro mouthpieces are aimed at players who like the feel of traditional, lighter mouthpieces, but want better tone and a smoother sound throughout the entire register. The traditional problem sounds (e.g. 2-line D, Eb, E and G) are very well in place here, and the sound is rich in upper notes: wide but clear.

B2 is one of Monette's most popular size categories, e.g. Wynton Marsalis has been playing with this type of mouthpiece for decades. It is very close to Bach's yks-ja-vart and Monette's previous B2, B2 S3 and B2 S5 models. Also suitable for 1 1/2C players looking for a slightly bigger sound. In this new B2-7 model, the shape of the rim has been refined in a slightly different direction; many have found this rim to be a bit more comfortable and, in a certain way, "more forgiving".
